Grey’s Anatomy returns for its 20th season this spring, and apparently, so does Ellen Pompeo‘s Meredith Grey. According to People , a new teaser trailer dropped for the upcoming season earlier today, which opens up with Meredith asking, “How long do I have to wait?”

The trailer then transitions to Chandra Wilson‘s Miranda Bailey corralling the interns, whom she tells Meredith “are in trouble.”

While Pompeo appeared in less than half of the episodes of Season 19 of the ABC medical drama, Season 20 marks the first where she is not a series regular, per USA Today. Last season, she left Seattle’s Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital to move to Boston and pursue Alzheimer’s research.

The teaser also draws fans in with various dramatic moments — such as Link (Chris Carmack) and Jo (Camilla Luddington) pursuing their feelings for each other — and ultimately concludes with Winston Ndugu (Anthony Hill) announcing that Kim Raver’s Dr. Teddy Altman “is in critical condition” after collapsing in the operating room, per Entertainment Weekly.

Ahead of her farewell episode last season, Pompeo shared a goodbye note with fans on Instagram, highlighting how she is “eternally grateful and humbled by the love and support” she has received from fans.

“Through it all….none of it …would have been possible without the best fans in the world,” she continued. “You all are RIDERS and you all have made the ride so fun and ICONIC!!”

However, during her interview with former co-star Katherine Heigl for Variety‘s “Actors on Actors” series back in June, she clarified that was “not a complete goodbye” for her character.

“I will be making some appearances hopefully next year, if I can find some time,” she shared.

Season 20 of Grey’s Anatomy hits ABC on Thursday, Mar. 14 at 8 p.m. ET. Watch the new teaser above.
