Amber Heard is thankful for her Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom fans.

The actress, who plays Mera in the DC film sequel, took to Instagram on Wednesday (Jan. 3) to share behind-the-scenes photos of herself in her character’s signature red hair, and to express her gratitude to her fans, per Variety.

“After all this time, Aquaman 2 made its splash (sorry, it’s too easy) 💦 ,” she captioned the post. “Thank you to all of my fans for the overwhelming support and love in Mera’s AQ return. Thank you so much❤️ #aquaman.”

She also shared videos of herself training for the action-packed film on her Instagram story, thanking her “stunt team” and adding, “the people who put up with training me deserve some sort of sainthood.”

The lead up to the film’s release sure brought a whirlpool of drama, as a report from Variety in October revealed allegations that the movie’s leading man, Jason Momoa, “wanted [Heard] fired.” The allegation was discovered in notes from Heard’s therapist, Dr. Dawn Hughes, that were brought to light during the actress’ April 2022 defamation trial against her estranged ex-husband, Johnny Depp.

The notes, which were taken during a Dec. 27, 2021 therapy session, also revealed that Momoa reportedly was “dressing like Johnny” on set, even wearing “all the rings, too.” Nonetheless, a source on set defended Momoa to Variety, noting that he “has always always dressed in that bohemian style.”

The report also claimed that Heard was nearly fired from the film due to a “lack of chemistry” with Momoa. Once the teaser trailer was released — sans Mera — in late November, fans were under the impression that Heard would not even appear in the movie at all.

However, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, director James Wan — who reportedly “raised his voice” at Heard on set, per the investigation — claimed that in terms of the actress’ limited moments onscreen, he had “always pitched this to everyone from the get-go.”

“The first Aquaman was Arthur (Momoa) and Mera’s journey,” he explained. “The second movie was always going to be Arthur and Orm (Patrick Wilson). So, the first was a romance action-adventure movie, the second one is a bromance action-adventure movie. We’ll leave it at that.”

Aquaman 2 is in theaters now.
