Kansas City Chiefs Player Is Giving Away Free Peacock Subscriptions So Fans Can Watch Chiefs / Dolphins NFL Playoff Game on Saturday

Charles Omenihu is supporting “Chiefs Kingdom.” Ahead of the wild-card playoff match-up between his Kansas City Chiefs and the Miami Dolphins — that is only available for Peacock subscribers — the defensive end is supporting his fans.

Taking to X (the platform formerly known as Twitter) on Tuesday night (Jan. 9), Omenihu posted the following, per the New York Post.

“Alright Chiefs Kingdom, I saw the comments and want y’all to be able to watch us play…So, I’m giving away 90 3-month Peacock memberships!” he wrote. “To enter to win, reply to this tweet with why you should get picked. Picking winners Friday!”

Earlier on Tuesday, Omenihu had teased the sponsorship, tweeting out to the NBC-backed streamer, “hey @peacock I want to see our fans happy, hit me up I have an idea.”

According to the Post, Omenihu had previously aired his grievances about the exclusivity of the game, writing on Sunday night (Jan. 7), “Us playing on peacock ONLY is insane I won’t lie.”

His Sunday night post, which has over 1.1 million views as of publication time, has a very active comments section, to say the least. One fan entered for his parents, noting that they are “die hard fans in Denver,” while another said that they “just want to be able to watch [their] favorite team Saturday night.” Many just lauded him for the “kind gesture,” and some retweeted the post to “get the word out.”

A Peacock Premium plan costs $5.99/month (plus tax), or $59.99/year (plus tax). According to Sports Illustrated, this game is part of a one-year deal worth nearly $110 million, first reported by the Wall Street Journal in May 2023. However, viewers in either Kansas City or Miami may tune into the game for free on their local NBC affiliate stations.
