The Witcher Season 4 is adding a new face to its cast. Laurence Fishburne will be joining the cast as Regis in the Netflix series adapted from Andrzej Sapkowski’s fantasy novels.

The actor said that he is “very excited to be joining the cast and look[s] forward to exploring the wondrous world of The Witcher,” per a Netflix press release shared with Decider.

According to the release, the character of Regis was introduced in Sapkowski’s 1996 book Baptism of Fire, and is “a world-wise Barber-surgeon with a mysterious past who joins Geralt on his journey in Season 4.”

The release shared that “fan favorite” Regis doesn’t only appear in the books, but also in The Witcher video games, such as expansion The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s Blood and Wine, per IGN

Geralt, originally played by Henry Cavill, will now be portrayed by Liam Hemsworth, who was announced as his replacement when the series received the green light for Season 4. Other stars in Season 4 include Anya Chalotra (Yennefer), Freya Allan (Ciri) and Joey Batey (Jaskier).

For those anxiously awaiting Season 4, hang tight, as the streamer revealed that the show “will return to production this Spring.” However, Netflix did unveil the following description for the upcoming installment:

“After the shocking, Continent-altering events that close out season three, the new season follows Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri who are faced with traversing the war-ravaged Continent and its many demons apart from each other.  If they can embrace and lead the groups of misfits they find themselves in,  they have a chance of surviving the baptism of fire — and finding one another again. “

The show was also indirectly renewed for a fifth season last May, when the casting director told Deadline, “We’re just about to start filming on season four with Liam Hemsworth and there will be a short gap then we go straight into season five.”

Seasons 1-3 of The Witcher are streaming on Netflix.
