Who needs to travel the world when you have Netflix? The new Kevin Hart Netflix movie Lift takes viewers all over the world—or, at least, all over Europe. OK, fine, like three places in Europe. Still, that’s a lot!

Directed by F. Gary Gary (Straight Outta Compton, The Fate of the Furious), with a screenplay by Daniel Kunka, Lift is a chance for comedian Kevin Hart (who produced the film, in addition to starring in it) to be the cool action hero, with absolutely zero jokes about his height. In fact, there aren’t many jokes in the movie at all! Hart stars as Cyprus, the leader of a team of art thieves, who are hired by an Interpol agent (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) to pull off an impossible heist for the government. Don’t worry, it’s for the greater good.

In addition to Hart and Mbatha-Raw, the ensemble cast includes Vincent D’Onofrio, Úrsula Corberó, Billy Magnussen, Jacob Batalon, Jean Reno, and Sam Worthington. And this lucky cast got to travel all over Europe.

Where was the Kevin Hart movie Lift filmed?

The movie Lift was filmed in several different locations around Europe, including Belfast, Venice, and London.

The film’s main production base was at Harbour Studios in Belfast, Ireland, where many of the film’s interior shots were filmed on a soundstage. Those shots include the scenes in Cyrus’s apartment, the interiors of the planes, and the scene at the airport. Additional filming for these scenes were down at Loop Studios and Titanic Studios, according the film’s press notes.

The scene where Hart and Gugu Mbatha-Raw meet with Harry (played by TK), their guy on the inside at air traffic control, was filmed in Belfast’s Crown Liquor Saloon, a famous bar in the city that first opened in the 1850s. Certain scenes where our team is prepping for the heist were filmed at an airplane hangar on a retired military base in Ballykelly, a village north of Belfast. And the scene where Mbatha-Raw firsts confronts Hart in a swimming pool was filmed a the Sky Pool in London, which is a fancy private pool across from the American Embassy, suspended between the rooftops of two buildings.

For that opening sequence that starts at an auction and ends with a high-speed boat chase, the production flew to Italy. Exterior shots in Venice included the famed San Marco Square, and the nearby Lagoon, for the scene where Kevin Hart escorts an anonymous artist (played by Jacob Batalon) onto his boat. The interior auction sequence was filmed at Scuola Grande de San Rocco in Venice, a historic 16th-century building.

One of the film’s final sequences—when the team is captured and brought to the lavish home of Lars Jorgensen—was filmed in Trieste, an Italian city on the northeastern coast of the Adriatic Sea. Specifically, the scene was filmed on the grounds of Miramare Castle. And the very last scene in the movie—which features Hart reunited with his team, welcoming Mbatha-Raw to the team—was filmed on a mount in the Dolomite Alps in Cortina, Italy, which is north of Venice.

So there you have it! Remind me to get cast in a Netflix heist movie the next time I want a European vacation.
