Richard Simmons Changes Tune On Biopic, Wishes Pauly Shore “Good Luck!”

Richard Simmons is now apparently giving his blessing for Pauly Shore‘s unauthorized biopic on his life.

It was just days ago that Simmons expressed disapproval of the project, saying he never gave his permission for the film.

The below clip, which was introduced by Shore at the Sundance Film Festival on Friday night, is for the short film titled The Court Jester that will eventually become the full movie version of Richard’s life.

Shore told the crowd that Richard texted him earlier in the day, wishing him “good luck” with the screening. According to TMZ, the audience met the comment with rousing applause.

If true, Simmons had a change of heart considering just a few days ago, he wrote on Facebook: “You may have heard they may be doing a movie about me with Pauly Shore. I have never given my permission for this movie. So don’t believe everything you read.”

Simmons has not yet issued a new statement regarding the film and it is unclear as to whether or not he has or will be involved in the production.

“While we would love to have him involved, we respect his desire to privacy and plan to produce a movie that honors him, celebrates him and tells a dramatic story,” says The Wolper Organization, subsidiary of Warner Bros. that’s behind the movie.

TMZ caught up with Pauly at the Salt Lake City Int’l Airport on Thursday and he made it clear that his intentions are good and that he thinks Simmons will like the film.
