Today host Hoda Kotb gave viewers an inside look at her personal Spotify account through her Daylist, an “ever-changing” personalized playlist that refreshes every two hours, and the results were surprisingly angsty for the bubbly daytime host!

The playlist, which shows how your musical interests change throughout the day, typically has a unique title to portray a user’s listening moods. As Kotb excitedly explained to Jenna Bush Hager and their viewers, “So if I wake up at 4:00, 3:30, 3 o’clock, that time of day, all the music that shows up is stuff that I [listen to] or sounds just like it. Between 9 and 10, it’s a different one.”

She then began to read off how Spotify described her personalized Daylist earlier today: “Heartbroken, heartache Tuesday morning.” As Bush Hager and the Today stage crew began to laugh, she added, “They name them, okay? Hey, that’s the kind of music I listen to at this time of day.”

She continued describing her current Daylist, which she said was titled, “‘Rubberbands, trust issues, drunk text me.'”

“Oh jeez,” she said as she continued reading it off. Another title was ‘If I don’t laugh, I’ll cry.’

“For some reason, whatever I’m sharing with people during this time is usually angsty, but in two hours it’s going to be bouncy, it’s going to be like ‘Little Boo Thang’ [by Paul Russell],” she said.

Unfortunately, Kotb did not mention which “angsty” music Spotify recommended for her.

Bush Hager’ Daylist, on the other hand, was titled ‘Electronica Dance Tuesday Morning,’ described with terms such as “nostalgia” and “Ibiza.”

“I’m into it!” she declared.

Per Spotify’s website, “You’ll get new tracks at every update, plus a new title that sets the mood of your daylist. With relatable titles including thrillwave, happy dance, pumpkin spice, and more, the playlist helps you understand more about your taste in music—and express your unique audio identity.”

The personalized playlist is available to both free and premium Spotify users. If you’re interested in finding yours, you can find it by searching on the listening platform or looking under the Made For You hub.
