Some days it seems like Sunny Hostin and Alyssa Farah Griffin are on a mission to make The View the most uncomfortable show on TV. The co-hosts, who often spar over Hot Topics, have been at each other’s throats this election year, but this morning it wasn’t politics that set off their latest cringe moment, it was something more personal.

During a discussion about Florida’s new bill banning children under 16 from using social media, Griffin pointed out that her experience with social media is different from that of her co-hosts since she’s the only Millennial at the table.

“I feel like we haven’t, as a society, even thought about the harm that social media is gonna do. Like, I’m the youngest at the table and when I was a teenager, all we had was AOL Instant Messanger,” Griffin, who is 34, said, before joking, “Yeah, that was a dig. It was subtle, but it was.”

As she hastily added, “No, I’m kidding,” Hostin cut in to say, “It wasn’t that subtle,” with a tight smile on her face.

Meanwhile, 46-year-old Sara Haines laughed as she retorted, “That’s news! I thought I was the youngest.”

Hostin, who is 55, then repeated, “It wasn’t super subtle,” and raised her mug to her mouth to take a sip.

The uncomfortable bit mercifully came to an end as Griffin wrapped up her point, telling the panel, “All I meant to say is, all we had was AOL Instant Messenger and away messages, and the scariest thing that could happen online is a cyber-stalker or somebody in a chat room says something inappropriate.”

While today marked the latest tense moment between Hostin and Griffin, it’s practically a given now at The View, especially with the two co-hosts frequently clashing over 2024 hopeful Nikki Haley.

Recently, Hostin brutally shut down Griffin’s predictions for Trump’s VP pick and scoffed at her co-host’s continued plans to support Haley in the presidential race. But before this morning, perhaps the most uncomfortable moment to date was when Hostin snapped at Griffin for talking over her on a Jan. 11 episode, proclaiming, “I’m being interrupted constantly.”

Feel that? It’s us collectively cringing.

The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
