J. Smith-Cameron is spilling all the details about a moment of silly revenge on Kieran Culkin.

According to People, the actress stopped by Late Night with Seth Meyers on Wednesday night (Jan. 24), where she dished on her dynamic with longtime friend Culkin, and how it influences the “deeply strange” relationship between their Succession characters.

“We would sort of mock flirt on the set all the time,” she revealed. “And that show, the writers were so collaborative with us, they would take hints from how we behaved on set and write toward that.”

Host Seth Meyers deemed Culkin “an agent of chaos,” bringing up an interview with Variety in which he hilariously interrupted Smith-Cameron’s interview on the Emmys red carpet. Smith-Cameron only affirmed this after Meyers pulled out a picture of her and Culkin, the latter of whom’s t-shirt appeared to be soaking wet.

“So that was one evening after a table read,” she recalled. “And we all went to dinner. And he was riding me the whole time, like being horrid.”

She cited a particular instance of when she “couldn’t hear something” that people were laughing at on the other side of the table.

“And I’d be like, ‘What’d he say? What’d he say?’ He’d be like, ‘Oh, I’m sorry dear, did you forget your hearing aids?'” she shared. “Or like, if I yawned, he’d be like, ‘Is it past your bedtime? That’s so terrible.’ So, you know, at one point, I just threw my martini at him.”

Meyers considered that course of action to be “well within her right,” as the audience gave her a round of applause.

“Thank you,” she smugly told the crowd. “He was asking for it.”

During Wednesday night’s interview, Meyers also noted that Succession was experiencing its “last Emmys,” as the HBO hit aired its fourth and final season in May 2023. Smith-Cameron, who was nominated for Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, teased that she “lost again” following her 2022 Emmy nod. However, she highlighted that she was among strong contenders in her category.

“All those ladies had really juicy parts, and sometimes I would just be in like, one scene an episode,” she explained. “So really, I had no business being there!”

Late Night with Seth Meyers airs weeknights at 12:35/11:35c on NBC.
