Maria Georgas may not have gotten the first impression rose on The Bachelor‘s Season 28 premiere, but between her curious limo exit and bubbly personality, it’s clear she piqued the interest of Bachelor Nation and lead Joey Graziadei alike.

On Night 1 of Season 28, the 29-year-old executive assistant from Kleinburg, Ontario proudly repped Canada at the Bachelor mansion (or tried to, at least) and unapologetically let Joey know her true feelings about the horror genre and his favorite movie, Remember the Titans.

Per Maria’s official ABC bio, the 29-year-old executive assistant from Kleinburg, Ontario “is a bold, outgoing woman who isn’t afraid to speak her mind and go for what her heart wants.”

“The Canadian beauty is so done with short-term flings and situationships, and she’s ready to settle down with her perfect match. And lucky for Maria, a psychic reading recently left her thinking that Joey could be her future husband,” the bio reads. “Time will tell if the psychic’s foresight was right. Maria’s interests are extremely well-rounded, including a black belt in Taekwondo karate, a love for a big plate of spaghetti, and an obsession with horror movies. She wants a man who can embrace her passions, and while Maria loves horror, she hopes Joey won’t leave her ghosted!”

During the Season 28 premiere, Maria came out of the limo waving a small Canadian flag, which ABC blurred, much to the confusion of Bachelor Nation. Per the Canadian government website, Canada’s national flag is protected by trademark laws and unauthorized for commercial use, so ABC was likely taking legal precautions by opting for the blur.

In her intro video, Maria shared that she’s been single for five years and is “so over casual dating.” And yes, she’s also the girl who said she’s obsessed with scary movies, then asked Joey his Top 3 movies and mocked his first choice, Remember the Titans. Georgas was initially hard on the film, but once she learned who it starred, she changed her tune, posting a post-premiere apology Instagram Story. “I love Remember the Titans. First of all, I was offended because I didn’t know Denzel Washington was in it, and I love Denzel Washington,” Georgas told Instagram followers. “I would never in the right mind disrespect Denzel Washington, and I made that very clear. When I found out he was in the movie I already automatically knew the movie was going to be fantastic. I have since watched it and it’s great. In her intro video, Maria also introduced her dad, Nick Georgas, who — per LinkedIn — is the president of Jubilee Candy Corp, “a leading manufacturer of various confectionery lines specializing in cake decorations for the baking industry.”

Maria’s dad was a hit on social media Night 1, with members of Bachelor Nation hoping she gets a Hometown Date so they can see more of him. The Season 28 contestant also opened up about seeing her parents separate and divorce, and the impact it had on her own romantic relationships.
