Lee Byung-hun has become the most recent celebrity to be targeted in a string of home invasions in the Los Angeles area.

According to TMZ, the Squid Game actor’s L.A. home was broken into while he was away, only to be found “ransacked” by one of his employees last week.

Sources revealed to the outlet that the perpetrators “smashed a sliding glass door to get inside the house.” It is currently “unclear” as to whether or not anything was taken from the home, as the police told TMZ that Lee will have to look through his possessions to figure out if anything was taken from him.

Law enforcement sources told TMZ that Lee was likely not singled out. They said it seems as though one of the “burglary crews” targeting affluent areas of L.A. may be responsible for the incident.

Decider has reached out to Lee’s management for comment, but did not hear back by time of publication.

Lee portrayed Front Man in six episodes of the Netflix smash hit, per IMDb. Squid Game was renewed by Netflix in 2022, and has since spawned Squid Game: The Challenge a reality show spin-off that has also been renewed for a sophomore season.

TMZ reported that Lee is not the only one in the area to have his home broken into recently; The Chi creator Lena Waithe‘s home in L.A. was also burglarized earlier this month, where the perpetrators stole $200,000 worth of jewelry. Similar to Lee’s door, Waithe’s window was smashed, and her front door was found unlocked, according to law enforcement sources.

According to ABC 7, Keanu Reeves‘ house in the Hollywood Hills was broken into in early December 2023 when the actor wasn’t home. A firearm was reportedly stolen, and the thieves were seen on security footage donning ski masks, per TMZ.

Norma Eisenman, an officer and LAPD spokesperson, told the LA Times that “suspects entered the property through the backyard and broke a rear window to gain access.”
