This is not how we expected to see Logan Roy make a comeback. Yet, we’re here to report that Succession star Brian Cox has reprised his award-winning role for an advertisement for the French television festival Series Mania.

If that isn’t shocking enough, the ad also stars Emily in Paris actress Philippine Leroy-Beaulie, implying that the Netflix hit and Succession exist in the same universe.

In the ad, Leroy-Beaulie reprises her Emily in Paris role, Sylvie Grateau, manager of the fictional marketing company Savoir. Sylvie begins by saying the company has been experiencing “very difficult times” since they moved to the city of Lille, a move that Series Mania made in real life in 2018.

Leroy-Beaulie is joined by real-life festival director Laurence Herszberg, who plays Emily; and artistic director Frédéric Lavigne, who plays the eccentric Luc. (It’s worth mentioning that Herszberg delivers a hilarious impression of Lily Collins‘ character.)

The ad shows them planning how to keep their “biggest client” Series Mania when Emily waltzes in late, as she’s known to do. But their meeting is rudely interrupted by a video call from their new competitor, the late Waystar Royco CEO himself.

“Bonjour, Sylvie,” Logan smugly says as he sits before a mantle filled with awards, surely hinting at Succession sweeping this year’s awards season.

“Hello Logan,” Sylvie replies, clearly shocked. “I thought you were dead.”

He insists, “Never felt better!” If anything, it looks like death has done wonders for his temperament.

“Well, I’m so glad to hear that,” Sylvie replies. “What do you want?”

Here comes the most bizarre part of the commercial: after ominously telling Sylvie that he doesn’t “want anything that I already have,” Logan declares that he’s going after her Series Mania account.

“Series Mania is mine!” he suddenly declares before launching into very uncharacteristic villainous laughter. Sylvie then rushes Emily and Luc out to get back to work as she yells at Logan to “shut up.”

While it’s certainly refreshing to see Logan and Sylvie again, this ad is certainly not what people were expecting.

“This is such a perfect cross section of my interests that I can only believe I am hallucinating,” one viewer wrote on X.

Others wondered if this meant we should be expecting more from other Succession characters, with one user commenting, “Can this mean that other succession characters can pop up randomly in other shows now like tom wambsgans in sex in the city?”

In the caption of the video, Series Mania thanked Netflix and Emily in Paris creator Darren Star “for their approval.”

This may be the last we see of Logan, at least for now. On the other hand, Sylvie will be back in Emily in Paris Season 4, which is now in production. A premiere date has not been announced.
