Sometimes an on-screen father-daughter relationship transcends into real life. This is certainly the case for Mark Consuelos and his Riverdale daughter Camila Mendes, who reunited this morning on Live with Kelly and Mark.
After Mendes greeted Consuelos and his wife/co-host Kelly Ripa as her “second mom and dad,” Consuelos recalled the last time they had seen each other.
“We had a very special — was it a brunch? Or a hangout?” he asked.
Mendes replied, “I was in New York for Fashion Week, and I hit you up because I really wanted you guys to meet my boyfriend!”
Ripa remembered being “so excited” for the introduction.
“We were like, ‘What do we wear to meet our daughter’s boyfriend?'” she gushed. “And then Mark’s like, ‘OK, calm down. She’s not biologically our daughter.'”
After Consuelos teased that “she is,” Mendes admitted that the feeling was mutual.
“I felt like you were my dad meeting my boyfriend,” she told Consuelos. “”I really did have that level of nervousness.”
After Consuelos praised Mendes’ beau, Rudy Mancuso, as “great,” Mendes claimed that he and Mancuso “are so alike,” sharing that they actually “wore the same outfit” to brunch together.
“[You] both had black turtlenecks with black trousers,” she recalled.
After Ripa noted that the coincidental matching was “so weird” and “really funny,” Mendes claimed she “knew it was going to go well at the same time” because Consuelos and Mancuso “have such similar qualities.”
“I was like, Mark is you in 30 years!” she recalled telling Mancuso.
Consuelos portrayed Hiram Lodge, father to Mendes’ Veronica Lodge, for four seasons of Riverdale, ultimately departing The CW series after Season 5. However, he did return for a cameo in a Season 6 and Season 7 episode, per IMDb. He and Ripa’s son, Michael Consuelos, even portrayed a younger version of Hiram in a Season 5 flashback episode.
