High school is already awkward enough. But Ewan McGregor’s daughter, actress Clara McGregor, reveals she had a very “uncomfortable” experience when she was forced to watch her father’s erotic drama in a class.

The McGregors paid a visit to Jimmy Kimmel Live to promote their upcoming indie, Bleeding Heart, when Clara dished on the awkward moment from her youth.

She explained that she took a gender studies class as a senior in high school, which included some of her dad’s work.

“My teacher came up to me near the end of the semester and said, ‘Listen, there’s a movie I usually teach as part of the curriculum,'” Clara said. “‘Your dad is in it, and there is some nudity, so I wanted to run it by you before we watched it in class.’ And I said it was fine, I didn’t really think much of it, and so we watched a movie called The Pillow Book, which is a brilliant film.”

She continued, “But watching that movie at 17 with your entire high school class, it’s more like they’re watching me watch that film … which was interesting.”

Ewan then confirmed to host Jimmy Kimmel that he is nude “a lot” in that film, to which Clara added, “Full-frontally nude, the whole time!”

The 1996 erotic drama follows the romance that unfolds between a woman who has a fetish for calligraphy on the human body and her English lover, played by Ewan. The film famously features lots of full-frontal nudity from the actor, who has admitted that he does get “a kind of rush” out of performing nude.

On Jimmy Kimmel Live, Ewan revealed that he also spoke to Clara’s teacher before they showed the film.

“It is a beautiful film. The teacher, she emailed me before as well, to say, ‘Look, just so you know, I’m figuring to show this to your daughter’s class, is that okay?’ And I went, ‘Look, I wouldn’t want to be the reason you don’t show that to your kids, because it’s a beautiful movie,'” he recalled. “But I said, ‘You have to guarantee that the kids are mature enough not to make fun of Clara or make her feel bad about it,’ and they didn’t.”

Though “memorable,” it was certainly a cringey moment for Clara.

“It was uncomfortable,” she said. “I think they also probably felt a little uncomfortable.”

Kimmel then quipped, “They’re like, ‘Oh that’s where she came from.'”

The joke earned a laugh from the father and daughter. Ewan then replied, “Come on, Jimmy.”

Clara and Ewan’s new film Bleeding Love premieres in theaters on Feb. 16. Scroll up to watch the rest of their interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
