Drew Barrymore and Ross Mathews continued their pre-Super Bowl festivities with CBS Sports commentators Tony Romo and Tracy Wolfson on this morning’s episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, where Taylor Swift was unsurprisingly a big topic of conversation.

During the NFL’s regular season, Romo sent Swifties into a frenzy when he referred to Swift as Travis Kelce‘s “wife” on two separate occasions while commentating on the Kansas City Chiefs games.

According to the former Dallas Cowboys quarterback, the “tongue-in-cheek” slip-up was no mistake.

“I jokingly did it, but not everyone always gets it,” he told Barrymore. “Actually, I did it twice. Because we’re on air for three-and-a-half hours, three hours and 15 minutes — sometimes I gotta make jokes that I actually am entertained.”

He added, “I always think it’s funny because people go, ‘What do they know? What’s happening over there?'”

However, Romo confirmed that he “definitely” doesn’t know anything about Kelce and Swift’s highly publicized romance, other than the fact that it gets “talked about more than the football game sometimes.”

As for Romo’s implication that the lovers are married, Barrymore clarified, “You knew you were being a little silly. So it wasn’t a mistake. It was a purposeful, sort of, ploy to be playful?” to which the athlete shamelessly replied, “Yeah, that would be accurate.”

Romo — the little jokester he is — later praised Swift and Kelce’s love story, which all began after the tight end put her on blast on his podcast.

“It’s really unique to have two really different worlds. She was really never into football,” Romo said. “And once you get into it and your husband or boyfriend — not her husband — is doing that, you get like, ‘Wow. This is a huge deal. He could get hurt. This is his whole career, his legacy. So much is on the line.'”

He continued, “And then all the sudden you sit here and go, ‘She’s the same thing in her world. She’s as good as anybody maybe ever has done it at what she does.'”

Barrymore, who has been an outspoken fan of the couple since day one, also gushed over the way they support one another in their respective careers.

“If you can find somebody that knows you, sees you, understands you, can support you — it doesn’t matter what the circumstances are,” she said. “It’s if you can relate and keep each other straight, keep each other supported, and it just seemed like a really nice side benefit to both of their extraordinary jobs that they could relate to one another.”
