Ryan Seacrest Returns To ‘Live’ As A Guest And Is Hilariously Put In His Place By Kelly Ripa: “We’re Not Gonna Do This, Where You Try To Take Over The Interview”

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos welcomed a familiar face who certainly felt right at home back in the studio this morning on Live with Kelly and Mark. That face belonged to Live alum Ryan Seacrest, who returned to the ABC morning show — this time as a guest — to discuss the upcoming season of American Idol, which airs on Feb. 18.

In typical Live fashion, Ripa and Consuelos highlighted the next day’s segments ahead of introducing their first guest. As Ripa wrapped up her debrief, Consuelos began to giggle, pointing off-stage to Seacrest, who clearly wasn’t having it. However, as Seacrest signaled to her to pick up the pace by pointing at his watch, Ripa put her former co-host in his place.

“No, honey, we’re not hurrying it up!” she exclaimed. “Go backstage, and you can come out.”

After quipping that she “was just reminiscing about” Seacrest’s tenure on the show prior to that interaction, she eventually introduced the soon-to-be Wheel of Fortune host, noting that he’s “a fan favorite in this neck of the woods.”

After Ripa told him that he “forget[s] how it works around here,” Seacrest pointed out that they “changed the signs” since he departed the show last April. Nonetheless, Ripa wouldn’t let him get too comfortable.

“We’re not gonna do this, where you try to take over the interview,” she teased.

Seacrest replied, “I wanted to ask you a couple questions about your weekend!”

Nonetheless, Ripa and Consuelos welcomed Seacrest back to assist them in reading the love stories that viewers sent in to “The Love Inbox,” in honor of Live‘s Love Week.
