Bowen Yang received some insight from seasoned celeb Tina Fey, who didn’t mince her words while dishing out advice about fame.

The Saturday Night Live alum recently appeared on current cast member Yang and fellow comedian Matt RogersLas Culturistas podcast, where she took a moment to let Yang in on a harsh reality that comes with stardom, per The Wrap.

During the podcast’s trademark “I Don’t Think So, Honey” segment, in which the hosts and their guests share their hot takes on culture, Fey said, “I don’t think so, honey: Bowen Yang giving his real opinions about movies on this podcast. I regret to inform you that you are too famous now, sir.”

This advice certainly didn’t come out of thin air. Fey highlighted Yang’s thoughts on Saltburn, which he shared during a Jan. 10 podcast episode, per The Hollywood Reporter.

“What’s going to happen? You have a problem with Saltburn?” she told Yang. “Shhh! Quiet luxury.”

She continued, “Keep it to yourself, because what you are going to do when Emerald Fennell calls you about her next project where you play Carey Mulligan’s coworker in the bridal section of Harrods, and then Act 3 takes a sexually violent turn and you have to pretend to be surprised by that turn?”

She highlighted Yang’s involvement in the upcoming movie musical adaptation of Wicked, teasing that he “hang[s] out with Ariana [Grande] and SpongeBob now,” referring to actor Ethan Slater, who previously played the Nickelodeon character on Broadway.

“That is your life, OK?” she added, telling Rogers that he’s “got about one year left” until the phenomenon hits him, too.

She urged the two co-hosts to not only “learn from [her] mistakes,” but also from recent SNL host Ayo Edebiri, whose comments about Jennifer Lopez‘s career being “one long scam” on a 2020 Scam Goddess podcast episode resurfaced ahead of their joint appearance on SNL. In the comments section of Yang’s post featuring Fey’s appearance, The Bear star even vetted Fey’s advice, as she wrote, “LEARN FROM ME.”

Fey wrapped up her argument with two key pieces of advice: “podcasts are forever” and “authenticity is dangerous and expensive.”

Yang, who launched Las Culturistas alongside Rogers in 2016 — two years before he joined SNL as a staff writer and three years before he became a cast member, per NBC News — certainly appreciated Fey’s words, which he praised as “an all timer.”
