The London world premiere of Denis Villeneuve‘s Dune: Part Two brought many surprises. Not only did Zendaya stun the masses with a show-stopping Mugler bodysuit, but Golden Globe-winning actress Anya Taylor-Joy made an appearance, confirming that she plays a major role in the new installment.

“This is a dream come true,” she said in a live stream at the Dune: Part 2 premiere on the Warner Bros TikTok, per Variety. “The books are incredible, but with this cast and with Denis, it doesn’t get any better than that.”

Villeneuve confirmed that they worked to keep her casting a secret. Even now, the nature of Taylor-Joy’s role has yet to be confirmed.

“I cannot believe that we kept the secret that long,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “It required so much work to keep that secret. Everybody signed with their blood.”

EW reports her role is “so secret that her name does not even appear in the closing credits.”

2024 is shaping up to be a big year for the actress.

She is already set to play a younger version of Charlize Theron’s Mad Max character in the upcoming blockbuster Furiosa, scheduled to premiere in May.

The Queen’s Gambit star only had words of praise to share after seeing Villeneuve’s highly anticipated film. “This is probably one of the best movies I’ve ever seen in my entire life,” she said.

Taylor-Joy will be joining the star-studded Dune: Part 2 cast which already includes Timothee Chalamet, Zendaya, and Rebecca Ferguson, who will all be reprising their roles from Part One, with Florence Pugh, Austin Butler, and Christopher Walken joining as well.

Critics have already begun sharing Dune: Part 2 reviews, with many saying the movie is “a triumph” and “a masterpiece” that far exceeds what Villeneuve already achieved in Part One.

“Even more immense than the first, but much more intimate,” Inverse entertainment editor Hoai-Tran Bui wrote on X. “Denis Villeneuve manages to streamline the more alienating second half of the book into a riveting, action-packed epic. TWO TOWERS-level mastery of battle sequences. Zendaya is the star.”
