Aisling Franciosi and Tom York star in the new horror film Stopmotion, which comes to theaters this week. Luckily, we have you covered on all the ways you can watch it!
Directed by Robert Morgan, Stopmotion follows Ella, a stop-motion animator who mentally spirals after she adds a monster to her movie called the Ashman.
“I’ve never thought that stop-motion is a cutesy kid thing,” Morgan told Entertainment Weekly in an interview last month. “I’ve always thought it was an uncanny, slightly occult process, building little puppets and then doing this strange ritual on them which brings them to life.”
So, where can you watch Stopmotion? Is it on Netflix? What about Max?
Here’s everything we know about the upcoming movie:
WHERE TO WATCH STOPMOTION:
As of now, the only way to watch Stopmotion is to head out to a movie theater when it releases on Friday, Feb. 23. You can find a local showing on Fandango. Otherwise, you’ll just have to wait until it becomes available to rent or purchase on digital platforms like Vudu, Apple, YouTube and Amazon or becomes available to stream on Shudder. Read on for more information.
WHEN WILL STOPMOTION BE ON STREAMING? WILL STOPMOTION BE ON SHUDDER?
Since IFC Films is owned by AMC Networks, Stopmotion will become available to stream on the company’s horror streaming platform, Shudder, on May 31, 2024, according to EW.
“IFC’s superb back catalogue speaks for itself, and Shudder’s embracing of the weirder and distinctive side of horror cinema means this is the perfect home for my first feature,” Morgan said in a statement to Variety. “I’m thrilled to be teaming up with them, and I’m excited to share Stopmotion with audiences very soon.”

WILL STOPMOTION BE ON HBO MAX?
No, Stopmotion will likely not be available on Max (previously known as HBO Max) since it is not a Warner Bros. Discovery film.
WILL STOPMOTION BE ON NETFLIX?
No, Stopmotion will not be on Netflix — at least not any time soon. While it’s possible the film may come to the streamer at some point in the future, you’ll just have to head out to a movie theater or wait for it to become available on Shudder in the meantime.
