Porsha Williams Files For Divorce From Husband Of 15 Months One Week After Announcing Return To ‘RHOA’

Just over a week after it was announced that Porsha Williams would be returning to The Real Housewives of Atlanta, the reality star has left her husband of 15 months.

Williams filed for divorce from Simon Guobadia in Atlanta on Thursday (Feb. 22), according to People. While Guobadia was reportedly denied permanent residency in the US due to an alleged criminal record, a source tells the outlet that their split is “unrelated to recent allegations involving Simon’s past.”

One month after meeting in April 2021, the estranged couple got engaged before officially tying the knot in November 2022. They first wed in a Nigerian traditional native law and custom ceremony, which was followed by a traditional American ceremony in Atlanta the next day.

“Our relationship began a month ago — yes we are crazy in love,” Williams captioned an Instagram post after announcing their engagement. “I know it’s fast but we are living life each day to its fullest. I choose happiness every morning and every night. Tuning out all negative energy and only focused on positive wishes. He makes me so happy and to me, that is what matters most.”

Williams starred in The Real Housewives of Atlanta from Seasons 5-13, before voluntarily leaving the show in 2021. The news of her breakup comes one week after she confirmed that she would be returning to the show for the upcoming Season 16.

The television personality will also partner with NBCUniversal Entertainment for “scripted project opportunities across the company’s broadcast and streaming properties,” according to a press release obtained by Variety.

“I’m incredibly thankful for the vision and faith NBCUniversal has put in me to be a larger part of their family,” Williams said in the release. “I’m looking forward to being back on The Real Housewives of Atlanta, and showing the world my new world!”

Now we know she’ll have a lot to talk about when Season 16 starts filming later this year!
