It’s been six months since Lindsay Hubbard and Carl Radke called off their wedding, and while fans are gearing up to watch their relationship unfold in the eighth season of Summer House, Hubbard is too busy “distracting” herself to rewatch that part of her life. Still, the reality star carved out some time to step away from her new Nashville rental property (appropriately called Hubb House) to chat with DECIDER about what went down in the Hamptons on the new season of Summer House.

Yes, the relationship drama between Radke and Hubbard will undoubtedly take center stage as the season goes on, giving us the “fuller, bigger story” behind their breakup. However, fans who value female friendship may be more interested in knowing that things between the budding real estate mogul and Danielle Olivera are now A-OK, or, perhaps even “better” than they were before their fallout in Season 7.

During the first episode of Season 8, Olivera reveals she “hated” Hubbard after the events of summer 2022, but noted that they decided to “start fresh” and set “boundaries” going into this year’s house. Amanda Batula says in the first episode that Olivera had “reservations” about the summer, while her husband Kyle Cooke previously echoed to DECIDER that he didn’t think the app developer “wanted to film with Lindsay,” but Hubbard tells us she “didn’t” feel the same way — and doubted the truth behind her castmates’ claims.

“I don’t know if that’s how Danielle felt at all because we had sat down for lunch before filming started and we had a great lunch and we were great,” she says, adding that “it didn’t take a long time” to get back to their usual antics.

Hubbard stopped by DECIDER’s offices ahead of tonight’s episode to dish on everything from her dynamic with Olivera and Paige DeSorbo to the “fun” summer they all shared, despite it being “pretty obvious how it ends.” Keep reading for our full interview.

DECIDER: The first episode definitely didn’t have as much Lindsay as fans would’ve probably liked to see – but you were still there a little bit. What has the experience been like rewatching this part of your life? Does it feel like you’ve lived 10 lives since filming?

LINDSAY HUBBARD: Yeah. I mean, to be honest, I think I have been so busy that it’s a great distraction, but at the same time, like it’s doing things that I really want to focus on for myself and my future that I haven’t really focused too much on, like, the whole rewatching part. I’m good at distracting myself these days.

When we spoke to Kyle, he said Danielle didn’t want to film with you at the start of the season. Did you feel the same way about filming with her?

No, not at all. And I don’t know if that’s how Danielle felt at all because we had sat down for lunch before filming started and we had a great lunch and we were great. You know, we were rebuilding at the beginning of summer and it didn’t take us a long time at all to really just get back into our Danielle and Lindsay friendship. So, yeah. I can’t speak to [whether] Danielle said that or not, but no, I didn’t feel that way.

If social media and BravoCon have been any indication, it seems like you have mended your friendship. What can you tell us about the journey to getting back to where you were before the drama of Season 7?

I actually think that right now we’re in a better place than we were even before our breakup. Danielle and I — sometimes this happens with female friendships. You kind of go on your own journeys, maybe your paths are going in different directions and then you come back together with new experiences and different ideas or a little maturity and growth on each other’s end and then it just works out better the second time around. So I think that we’re in a really great place — even better than we were before.

The trailer for this season had some pretty heated moments, specifically between you and he-who-shall-not-be-named. Do you think your feelings in the trailer will become more clear to the audience as the season goes on?

Yeah, I mean, a trailer can only show you so much, right? There’s only so many minutes that they can include. I think that with every conversation that plays out this season, you’ll get a fuller, bigger story where there are two sides. I think that we just have to wait and see when those conversations actually are airing.

You weren’t the only one with a spotlight on your relationship. Amanda and Kyle seem like they’ve already started off on the wrong foot in episode one. Why do you think they have such a hard time getting on the same page sometimes – especially since last summer they seemed to be doing so well?

I don’t know. I mean, I think with any relationship there’s going to be times that you guys are not connected in certain ways, but connected in other ways. That’s just how a partnership goes and especially a long-term relationship and especially a forever relationship. You know, not everything can be perfect all the time. And I think that’s normal in relationships.

You and Paige also have an interesting friendship. In the first episode, she basically said she plays nice until you do something that makes her lose it. What can you tell us about your dynamic with Paige?

Paige and I had a great summer. We actually went on a friend date at one point, just the two of us with no guardians or anyone watching over us except for the cameras. We’re in a great place. I think that we had a lot of deep conversations over summer as well, which you’ll see, and that’ll help explain where we’re at now.

What else can you tease about the rest of the season?

Oh, gosh. I think it’s pretty obvious how it ends. No teasing there! We had so much fun. I can’t stress that enough. It was more fun this last summer than it was in the last couple of years, so I really do think it’s going to be a refreshing fun season for people to watch.
