Whoopi Goldberg Stuns ‘The View’ After Admitting She’s Been To Jail: “I’ll Tell You About It”

Every once in a while, Whoopi Goldberg will come out with a confession that shocks even her fellow co-hosts on The View. Today, the longtime moderator revealed two unknown facts about herself: that she’s been on the Appalachian Trail and, more surprisingly, that she’s been to jail.

When the show returned from the commercial break, Goldberg said her co-hosts were “not thrilled” about the next Hot Topic on deck. Therefore, a bag filled with other options bizarrely descended from the ceiling and Joy Behar randomly chose a different topic, which asked the panel: would you rather hike the Appalachian Trail alone or go to jail for six months?

The question eventually rounded back to Goldberg, who admitted, “Well, I’ve done both.”

The rest of the women broke out into laughter, while Behar further grilled Goldberg on her revelation.

“When were you in jail?” the comedian asked, to which Goldberg replied, “Doesn’t matter, does it?”

She then promised, “I’ll tell you about it.” And that was the end of that — until the end of the episode when she clarified that she has never actually been incarcerated.

“Don’t get it twisted, I’m a humorist. So stop looking it up, ’cause that’s what I know is happening,” Goldberg joked. “‘When was she in jail?’ You’ll be looking until the cows come home, honey!”

Meanwhile, Sara Haines and Alyssa Farah Griffin were more interested in knowing when the EGOT winner was on the Appalachian Trail.

Behar, on the other hand, was displeased with the “stupid” topic and eventually asked what they were originally supposed to talk about in the first place.

“Well, you gave up a fairly good topic to talk about this,” Goldberg explained. “The other topic was about the man and the woman. The woman said she doesn’t like the kind of sex that her husband — she calls it vanilla sex. I said, ‘What kind of stuff are you looking for?’ They did not have an answer for that.”

She continued, “So my answer for this is that she should’ve just gotten herself something she could put a battery in, put some googly eyes on it, and talk to it and let it say whatever it needs to say.”
