Former Bachelor host Chris Harrison will be making his comeback to television with a little help from fellow TV personality Dr. Phil McGraw.

Harrison announced that he has signed a deal with Dr. Phil‘s new broadcasting network, Merit Street Media, under which he will create and host a new reality show about dating. He will also be co-hosting a morning talk show with his wife, Lauren Zima, from their hometown of Dallas, Texas.

Though he did not share any details about the reality series, Harrison teased that it was going to be very different from anything we’ve seen before.

“It has dating elements in it, but this is so different and so novel. It is flipping the script in a way that I think people are gonna become addicted to it in a week,” he said, per ET. “It is unbelievable.”

He continued, “People got to know and love me for two decades hosting The Bachelor, so, yes, we are going to be creating a reality dating show. For years and years I said, ‘This is the most dramatic show ever.’ We want to create a show where those words actually ring true, so this dating show will be the most dramatic ever – that you can be sure of.”

Dr. Phil praised Harrison amidst their new partnership, saying, “He’s so good on camera. When he walked out for the first time, the audience went insane,” per ET.

The former talk show host also shared the advice he gave Harrison as they began working on the show: “If you want to do a relationship show, you can, but think bigger and broader. This is a blank slate.”

This marks Harrison’s first time back on television since he exited The Bachelor franchise in 2021 following his remarks about Bachelor contestant Rachael Kirkconnell, who was photographed at a “plantation-themed” sorority party in 2018.

At the time, he defended Kirkconnell, telling listeners of Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay‘s podcast to “have a little grace” for the Bachelor contestant. He swiftly apologized for his remarks, but he was forced to leave the show soon after.

Harrison has since said that he was “grateful” that he left the show when he did.

“What I went through was tumultuous. I don’t wish it on anybody. It was horrifying on a lot of levels — and something that I pray to God my worst enemy never goes through. But, with that said, I knew I had to remove myself from what became a very toxic situation,” he said.

The television personality also mentioned that he received “immediate offers to get right back into the game,” but he ultimately decided to take a break and reconnect with himself and his wife.

This partnership with Merit Street Media marks his first step back into the limelight.
