Kelly Ripa Laughs Off Praise From Former ‘Live’ Co-Host Ryan Seacrest: “What A Liar!”

Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest may no longer be co-hosts, but their banter will live on forever.

Throughout Live with Kelly and Mark‘s Countdown to the Oscars Special this morning, viewers were shown footage of several stars rehashing their best Oscar memories ahead of Sunday night’s ceremony and Live‘s subsequent After the Oscars show.

Of course, the episode concluded with a recording from Seacrest, Ripa’s former Live co-host who helmed several post-Oscars shows over his tenure on the hit talk show.

“My favorite memory from the Oscars — man, there’s so many great things,” Seacrest began. “The red carpet, the show, but I think what stands out to me is the after-Oscars show that we do every single year, is the best.”

After seeing clips of Ripa and Seacrest walking out hand-in-hand at the Dolby Theater to helm their annual special, Seacrest gushed, “If you have to get up super early, like, before 6 a.m. to host an after-Oscars show, you need someone like Kelly Ripa by your side. That makes it all smooth.”

Once the cameras cut back to the studio, Ripa was caught chuckling alongside Mark Consuelos, who will follow in Seacrest’s footsteps and co-host his first-ever After the Oscars Show with his wife.

“What a liar!” Ripa quipped amid further laughter.

This hilarious moment arrives almost a month after Seacrest returned to Live as a guest and was jokingly put in his place by Ripa when he was getting a little too comfortable during their interview.

“We’re not gonna do this, where you try to take over the interview,” she teased.

Seacrest responded, “I wanted to ask you a couple questions about your weekend!”
