Jimmy Kimmel used his extra minute of airtime at the 2024 Oscars to savagely fire back at Donald Trump, who posted a scathing review of the ceremony’s host on social media.

In between Emma Stone accepting the award for Best Actress and Oppenheimer winning Best Picture, Kimmel reentered the room, where he explained what he was going to do with the extra few minutes left in the broadcast.

“Doing this show is not about me and I appreciate you having me. It’s really about you and Emma and all these great actors and actresses and filmmakers,” he said. “But I was told we have like an extra minute and I’m really proud of something and I was wondering if I could share it with you.”

He cheekily added, “I just got a review.”

The comedian then pulled out his phone and began to read.

“Has there ever been a worse host than Jimmy Kimmel at the Oscars? His opening was that of a less than average person trying too hard to be something which he is not, and never can be,” Kimmel read. “Get rid of Kimmel and perhaps replace him with another washed up, but cheap, ABC ‘talent’ George Slopanopoulos. He would make everybody on stage look bigger, stronger and more glamorous.”

He continued, “Blah blah blah … Make America great again.”

The host told the audience to “guess which former president just posted that to Truth Social,” before taking his opportunity to address Trump directly.

“Thank you, President Trump. Thank you for watching,” he said. “I’m surprised you’re still up — isn’t it past your jail time?”

Kimmel’s dig prompted a thunderous applause from the crowd. He concluded his bit by sarcastically saying, “He’s focused on the important stuff for sure.”

In case you were wondering — yes, Trump did, in fact, post that message to his social media platform around 40 minutes before Kimmel read it on national television.
