Kate Beckinsale shared an emotional post on social media in which she revealed she has recently been hospitalized for mysterious causes amid the loss of her stepfather.

The Underworld actress shared a tearful photo of herself wearing a hospital gown and a large bow.

“Happy birthday and UK Mother’s Day this last week to my incredible mother,” she wrote in the caption. “Thank you to those that love us and support us when it’s s**t and try to make sure there are some bits that aren’t.”

The post continued, “And for looking after our dogs when we can’t, and lead us to remember happy things when we can’t. And turn up when we are sick and sit with us.. And send balloons and check in and pull us out of wells with love.”

She concluded her message with a note to her mother, Judy Loe, whom she has also been caring for: “And for looking after our dogs when we can’t, and lead us to remember happy things when we can’t,” she wrote. “And turn up when we are sick and sit with us.. And send balloons and check in and pull us out of wells with love.”

Her hospitalization comes just weeks after the loss of her stepfather, Roy Battersby, who died of a heart attack in January while battling two forms of cancer. He was 87 at the time.

The Daily Mail reports a source claimed Beckinsale had been taking care of both of her parents at the time of her stepfather’s death.

“Kate has been caring for her parents, who both have serious illnesses, for most of the year,” the source said. “She brought them to her home in LA and has made looking after them her number one priority.”

Beckinsale did not disclose the circumstances of her hospitalization, sparking concern amongst fans in the comments.

“Such a sweet post for your Mama. I pray for your recovery, whatever it is you may be going through Kate,” one fan wrote.

“Big hug from me. Life beats the hell out of us sometimes,” another wrote.
