The View‘s executive producer Brian Teta dared to play off EGOT recipient Whoopi Goldberg while she was talking about what she knows best: the Oscars. But, in classic Goldberg fashion, she put her foot down and refused to go to the commercial break until she finished giving her final thoughts on Sunday night’s (March 10) ceremony.

On this morning’s episode of The View, the longtime moderator gave props to her friend and Oppenheimer star Robert Downey Jr., who won his first-ever Oscar last night for Best Supporting Actor.

“I’d just like to say to Robert Downey Jr. — it’s about damn time,” she said. “He’s one of those actors who should have had, in my opinion, multiple of these already. But that’s the beauty and the enraging part of the Oscars is it is — you know, people vote, and this is who they voted for.”

Goldberg added that she was also “thrilled” to see Da’Vine Joy Randolph take home her first Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in The Holdovers, noting that “it was wonderful to see her win.”

She continued, “I missed [her speech] but I have been rooting for her for a while, and also for —” but she was quickly cut off and drowned out by the sound of the iconic Oscars music.

Goldberg then glared at Teta, while even Sunny Hostin was shocked by his poor timing.

“Oh, they’re playing you off, Whoopi,” she told her co-host, before turning to the EP and saying, “You’re gonna play the EGOT off, talking about the Oscars? OK.”

As Teta sat with a grin on his face, Goldberg refused to end the segment until she was finished speaking.

“Here’s the deal. I’m not going,” she said. “Because I want to make sure that I finish my sentence, which was I’ve been waiting for this for Robert Downey Jr. for as long as I’ve known him. I’ve worked with him and he’s one of the great journeyman actors on the planet.”

She concluded, “And we’ll be right back,” finally giving the green light for the commercial break.

That’ll be the last time producers try to cut off the EGOT winner when she’s weighing in with her Hollywood expertise!

The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
