This morning on Live with Kelly and Mark, Kelly Ripa made Mark Consuelos aware of a hilarious bet she had recently conceived.

The two commanded the stage of the Dolby Theatre on Monday morning (March 11) for Live‘s annual After the Oscars show, which marked Consuelos’ first post-Oscars special as a co-host.

While recounting his experience on Tuesday’s show, Consuelos noted that he had “never really walked out” onto the distinguished Dolby Theatre stage before, other than once taking a picture with the Live staff “in the years past.” In fact, he was a bit wary of taking the stage, citing a “superstition” of his.

“I kinda want to stay away from the theatre,” he explained. “I don’t want to be in there. I’d like to go if I’m in a movie that’s nominated. I don’t think I’m gonna ever be nominated, but I’m just saying I kinda had a superstition. I don’t want to go to the Oscars until —”

Ripa interjected, “You’re a nominee.”

Consuelos added, “Or I’m part of a movie that is.”

Ripa then teased that she “warned the staff” of what could take place once Consuelos made his way onto the stage.

“I said, ‘There is a 98% chance that Mark walks out onto that stage — and through no fault of his own, just through mental preparation — begins giving an acceptance speech,'” she quipped. “We started putting money on it backstage.”

Consuelos highlighted that being up there alongside his wife and co-host would be a “good thing” because he would be sure to thank her, to which Ripa replied, “I know! I would remind you to thank me.”

Consuelos continued, “Yeah, because you want to thank your wife.”

Ripa clarified, “You have to thank your wife, for getting you ‘there.'”

Never say never, Mark!
