John Oliver was the resident Brit on Tuesday night’s (March 12) episode of Watch What Happens Live — so, obviously, Andy Cohen had to ask him about Kate Middleton‘s whereabouts.

After diving into the most recent episode of Vanderpump Rules with Ariana Madix, Cohen turned his attention to Oliver. “I have to ask you — what the fuck is going on with Kate Middleton?” Cohen wondered.

The Last Week Tonight host admitted it was a “fair question,” telling Cohen that he wanted nothing to do with the viral conspiracy theories — until Middleton’s photoshop blunder.

“I was out. I thought, let’s all just ignore this, we’ve moved on — until the photoshop thing,” he said. “It feels like you’re almost handling badly in an impressive way at this point.”

For those who missed it, Middleton finally broke her silence last weekend for the first time since she underwent a planned abdominal surgery in January. She shared a photo of herself and her three children in honor of Mother’s Day in the U.K. However, internet sleuths quickly noticed that the photo was manipulated, prompting news agencies like AP and Getty Images to remove it from their sites.

What was more shocking, though, was that the Princess of Wales took to social media to admit her error.

“Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing,” she wrote. “I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused. I hope everyone celebrating had a very happy Mother’s Day. C.”

Meanwhile, Cohen was skeptical about whether or not it was actually Middleton who wrote the apology. He asked, “Isn’t their motto: never complain, never explain? And they had ‘her’ explaining on Twitter?”

Oliver then replied, “There’s a nonzero chance she died 18 months ago. They might be Weekend at Bernie’s-ing this situation.” He went on to clarify, “I’m not saying it happened! I’m saying it’s nonzero until proven otherwise. Until you see her with a copy of today’s newspaper.”

The comedian doubled down on his theory during a game of “Please Sir, Can I Have Some More?” when he had to reveal how much he cared about the scandal surrounding Middleton.

“Please sir, can I have much, much more?” he said. “No theories about theory until proven otherwise. She’s dead.”

Watch What Happens Live airs Sunday through Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET on Bravo. New episodes are available to stream the next day on Peacock.
