They’re gonna be famous 5eva! The popular musical comedy Girls5eva is returning for a brand-new third season, but this time on a different streaming platform.
Per The Hollywood Reporter, the series was dropped by Peacock and picked up by Netflix in October 2022. Both streamers are expected to stream the first two seasons.
Created by Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt alum Meredith Scardino and executive produced by Tina Fey, the show follows the fictional eponymous ’90s girl group as they reunite in the present after a young rapper samples one of their older hits.
The third season sees Girls5eva embarking on a comeback tour following the release of their latest album.
“With no plan, tour manager, or venues secured, the ladies pile into a van and hit the great unknown, doing their damnedest to promote their album and get back on top,” the synopsis teases. “Will Girls5eva fast-track their comeback and sell their tour documentary in the process? Or will the road destroy them?”
The all-star cast features Sara Bareilles, Renee Elise Goldsberry, Busy Philipps, and Paula Pell as members of the girl group, along with Daniel Breaker, Andrew Rannells, and Grey Henson.
