Candiace Dillard Bassett Leaves ‘The Real Housewives Of Potomac’ — But Promises “This Is Not A Farewell”

After a drama-filled season, Candiace Dillard Bassett has officially announced her departure from The Real Housewives of Potomac.

Dillard Bassett, who first joined the Bravo reality series during its third season, revealed her decision to leave the franchise after six years just in time for the Season 8 reunion.

“As I embark on a new chapter after six remarkable years with The Real Housewives of Potomac, I am filled with gratitude for the enriching friendships, personal growth and moments of introspection that have defined this journey,” she said in a statement shared with People. “With a whirlwind of new opportunities and responsibilities on my plate, I have decided to take a break from RHOP.”

However, the reality star said her exit might not be permanent, telling the outlet, “This is not a farewell, but a ‘see you later.'”

She concluded her statement with a message to her fans. “Your unwavering support has been my guiding light, and I look forward to the exciting adventures that lie ahead — and more importantly, sharing them all with you!” she said.

Dillard Basset’s exit doesn’t necessarily come as a surprise to fans. The most recent season saw the singer sparring with co-stars Robyn Dixon and Gizelle Bryant. While it’s unclear if they were able to reconcile at the upcoming reunion, a trailer shows Dillard Bassett referring to Dixon as a “loser” as well as doubling down on calling Bryant “the Devil” and “evil.”

Earlier this month, the show’s executive producer Andy Cohen opened up about his goal as moderator of the reunion.

“The flaw of this season is that there are women who aren’t able to find any common ground with some of the other women, so there are all these pockets of women that just won’t even acknowledge each other — which is not a recipe for, you know, [good TV],” he said on SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live, per People. “One of the hallmarks of the Housewives is finding a way to move forward. And so, that was kind of the directive of the Potomac reunion.”

Dillard Bassett might not be the only RHOP star to depart the series. Online rumors are claiming that Dixon is allegedly leaving as well, though she has not confirmed anything just yet.

The Real Housewives of Potomac airs on Sunday nights at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo. New episodes are available to stream the next day on Peacock.
