Amid recent reports that Euphoria Season 3 is facing further delays — or even cancellation, as some rumors allege — an actor from the show who wished to remain anonymous has come forward, expressing doubt over whether Euphoria will ever return for a new season again.

Speaking to The Daily Beast, the unnamed actor voiced their frustration over the delays.

“Since January of 2022, we have had a start date of March that turned into June, that turned into January,” they said. “And then they kept pushing every month from then on. It was two full years of HBO telling all the actors we were going back soon, so we couldn’t take some jobs.”

According to the actor, the cast had been on standby until HBO recently allowed them to seek new opportunities amid the continued delays.

“Before last week I couldn’t take any TV jobs,” they said. “Since they have put it on hiatus, I can now take any job. But what sucks is that we all had more momentum right when the show came out but now it’s been two years of waiting.”

This comes after HBO announced yet another delay, saying the scripts for Season 3 are still being written. But the network says the show is still expected to reach its projected premiere date in 2025.

“HBO and Sam Levinson remain committed to making an exceptional third season,” an HBO spokesperson told Variety in a statement. “In the interim, we are allowing our in-demand cast to pursue other opportunities.”

Despite this, the actor claims Season 3 could be a longshot.

“Because I’m an actor I will always be excited about any acting work, so yes, I am looking forward to returning,” they said. “I just don’t think it will happen.”

Levinson’s team shut down the claims, maintaining that Season 3 is still moving forward: “HBO has answered all those speculative questions and assured everyone of a third season as originally planned in 2025,” they told The Daily Beast.

The outlet reports that the recent death of producer Kevin Turen could also be a reason behind the delays, noting that he “was the driving force behind the show’s momentum” while Levinson was known for making “instinctive decisions.”

Season 3 was already facing delays following the 2023 Hollywood strikes and the sudden death of breakout star Angus Cloud.
