In the wake of The Chosen Season 4’s successful theatrical release, fans are anticipating its arrival on streaming. The eight-episode-long season hit select theaters in February, allowing viewers to take it in on the big screen.

Variety recently broke the news that production on Season 5 of the faith-based series will kick off in Utah next month.

“The response to Season 4 has been overwhelming so far, which provides a nice lift for us as we head into filming,” showrunner Dallas Jenkins told the outlet.

Its devoted fanbase has been instrumental in the show’s success. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show was able to raise approximately $9 million through crowdfunding before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic to support its production. The series also received a rare waiver from SAG-AFTRA to continue production during this past summer’s historic dual strikes.

Unfortunately, the show’s fourth installment will not be arriving on streaming just yet amid “legal matters” that are currently being navigated, as shared by Jenkins in a video posted on March 10, per Forbes. Jenkins did not share additional details surrounding said legal matters or provide a timeline as to when fans may expect Season 4 to hit streaming, but said that they are “sorting out all of the things that [they] can do to get this show to you as soon as possible for free.”

Jenkins offered up other options for those who have yet to see the latest installment. Season 4 is heading back to theaters for a limited time “at a discount.” Episodes 1-3 will be available in theaters on Thursday, March 28, followed by Episodes 4-6 on Friday, March 29, and Episodes 7 and 8 on Saturday, March 30.

Additionally, Come and See Foundation, the non-profit organization that Jenkins explained “helps contribute to the production and translation of this show,” is offering churches and prisons the opportunity to hold free promotional Season 4 screenings, per Forbes.

Jenkins also noted that once they can begin streaming Season 4 on The Chosen‘s official app, they will be “accelerating the release strategy” to stream two episodes per week to “try to make up for this delay.”

For fans too eager to binge the entire season, Jenkins said that they “will also be offering the entire season at once… on DVD, and there will be a paid streaming option.”

In the meantime, fans can watch Seasons 1-3 of The Chosen on the show’s app and website, or on Peacock, Prime Video, and the BYUtv website.
