Happy Birthday Angel Dust! ‘Hazbin Hotel’ Drops “Poison” Remix to Celebrate

April 1 is commonly known as April Fool’s Day around the world, but the date has a different meaning to the Hazbin Hotel fandom. The date is fan-favorite character Angel Dust’s birthday!

To ring in the occasion, Prime Video released a remix of the character’s song “Poison” — the first single released in anticipation of the series.

The song features music and lyrics by the show’s songwriting team Sam Haft and Andrew Underberg and is remixed by The Living Tombstone, a musical duo consisting of Haft and Yoav Landau.

As of now, “#Poison” is trending on Twitter with over 38.1K posts, and “#HazbinHotelAngelDust” is following with 13.4K posts.

“It’s honestly a fantastic remix to listen to. The Living Tombstone have smashed it yet again,” wrote one fan.

Another tweeted, “Definitely going to be rocking out to this shit in my car!”

The Living Tombstone was previously featured in the 2023 Five Nights at Freddy’s movie. The band has also produced music based on the Overwatch video game and My Little Pony. Since its formation in 2011, the band has accumulated over 40 billion global streams, and their original song “My Ordinary Life” has reached platinum.

Hazbin Hotel has also been seeing success on the music front with the album sitting at #1 on the Billboard Soundtrack chart for 7 weeks.

The “Poison” remix features vocals by Angel Dust voice actor Blake Roman with a sprinkle of dialogue from Joel Perez, who voices Valentino in the animated series. Perez can be heard saying “I own you or have you forgotten that?” and “good boy” in the song.

Sharing the new song, the Hazbin Hotel Twitter account wrote, “Management is blasting the remix to Poison on a loop in the Hazbin lobby in honor of Angel Dust’s birthday!”

The Living Tombstone teased the release on Mar. 31, 2024, writing, “Sooo we made Angel Dust a lil birthday present dropping tonight. hbd buddy.” Landau later thanked Haft and A24 for the opportunity to remix the song.

Angel Dust is one of the main protagonists in Hazbin Hotel, which follows Princess of Hell Charlie (Erika Henningsen) as she opens up a rehabilitation center for sinners amidst Heaven’s annual purge. Angel resides at the hotel and is shown making genuine efforts toward rehabilitation despite his tragic backstory.

Showrunner Vivienne Medrano, who also created the 2019 viral pilot the Prime Video series is based on, confirmed Angel’s birthday in 2022 when she tweeted a celebratory message for the character. The following year, the Hazbin Hotel Twitter account shared a sketch drawing of Angel, which read, “It is Angel Dust’s birthday today!”

The remix continues the tradition of celebrating the beloved character’s special day! Now, if only we could get updates on Season 2 or the show’s spin-off Helluva Boss, which is expected to return any day now.
