Former Playmate Holly Madison has opened up about her experience at the Playboy mansion.
The model formerly dated Hugh Hefner and appeared on the reality show The Girls Next Door.
Since leaving the mansion, Madison has been candid about the dark side of working at Playboy. She produces and hosts The Playboy Murders for Investigation Discovery, as well as the new series Lethally Blonde.
In the second episode of Season 2 of Lethally Blonde, Madison compares working in the adult film industry to modeling for Playboy.
“Getting into the adult film industry can be a lot like being chosen to model for Playboy,” she says. “You have agents, and directors, and producers who are all trying to get that finished product. It’s a business and people are there to make money.”
Madison continues, “They’re not there to be your friend. So, you’re not always going to be surrounded by people who have your best interests in mind.”
The episode, called “The Porn Identity,” focuses on model Timothy Boham — who now identifies as a woman according to the Colorado Department of Corrections database — and their experience breaking into the adult film industry after working as a dancer.
In 2016, Boham murdered businessman John Paul Kelso during an attempted robbery.
Boham appeared on the cover of Playgirl Magazine in 2006, as well as several adult films.
Madison recalls knowing “people like Tim” while at the Playboy mansion.
“Having been in the Playboy world, I knew people like Tim who thrived in the world of exotic dancing. You get the confidence boost of people being into you. But being onstage in a strip club was a lot like living at the Playboy mansion,” she says.

Madison explains that there are security protocols for talent while performing, but those protections don’t follow performers off the premises.
“You’re very safe, you’re behind these gates, you have security. But when you leave, performers find themselves getting into situations where their safety can be at risk,” Madison shares.
Lethally Blonde airs Mondays at 10:00 p.m. ET on ID.
