A real friend wouldn’t let you get on national television with food stuck in your teeth. That much is true for Today hosts Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager.

Kotb brought Wednesday’s (April 3) broadcast to a halt when she noticed that Bush Hager had food stuck in her teeth. The co-hosts were in the middle of a conversation when Kotb told her, “You have something in your tooth… it is in there.”

But Bush Hager didn’t appear to believe her, replying, “What is it? I haven’t had any food today.”

“Well, then it must have been from yesterday,” Kotb joked, causing both of them to laugh.

That was enough to convince Bush Hager, because she then opened her mouth wide to see if the food could be seen on camera – which it clearly could.

Kotb later asked someone from the crew to give her something to help get the food out of Bush Hager’s teeth. She eventually managed to get it out using a ripped piece of paper. “I’ll get it! Just give it to me,” she told Bush Hager as she did it.

“Oh gosh, what a friend,” Bush Hager joked as Kotb pulled the piece of food out.

The hilarious moment ended soon enough, but Bush Hager later brought it up again during another discussion on the show. “By the way, I feel what was in my teeth, I feel it. So gross! I brushed my teeth twice,” she told Kotb.

This isn’t the first time Kotb has called Bush Hager out on air. She recently admonished her co-host for using her phone during the broadcast, only to learn that Bush Hager was using it to get by during a playful debate they were having on-air.

“OK, you do not need to be on your phone right now!” Kotb told her when she noticed that Bush Hager was inconspicuously looking something up on her cell phone under the table.

Bush Hager admitted that she was Googling something to help her win their debate.
