That’s because Netflix’s social media-based game is the only reality show where the players are completely isolated the entire time and only communicate via text and photos. For some people, The Circle is their chance to be their most authentic self. For others, The Circle is a chance to catfish their way to a major payday. And for Circle Season 6 catfish Caress Russell, catfishing is also a way to… probably give her little brother a whole lot more plays on Spotify???
Yeah, you read that right! Caress’s younger brother Paul scored a big hit song last year, and it’s one that you will absolutely have stuck in your head for the rest of the day. Who is The Circle’s Caress Russell’s younger brother?
Caress is catfishing as her brother Paul Russell, the rapper behind the hit single “Lil Boo Thang.” The song — which samples The Emotions’ 1977 hit “Best of My Love — was an immediate hit when Russell dropped it on TikTok in June 2023 and ultimately hit #14 on the US Top 40 charts. But check the YouTube plays: 19 million and counting. The Spotify spins? 205.5 million. And we know that the .5 million plays all probably came from Today’s Hoda Kotb, because “Lil Boo Thang” was her most-played song of 2023.
What’s wild is that The Circle doesn’t play this up more! “Lil Boo Thang” plays during Caress’ intro, but the credit is truly blink-and-miss. She mentions her brother is popular on social media and a rapper, which also describes her cast mate Myles (a.k.a. Yung Papi Fuego) and Myles does not have a “Lil Boo Thang” on his resume. Caress’ brother isn’t just a social media success! Her brother had one of the biggest songs of 2023, one that will absolutely be heard at weddings for the rest of eternity.
