Well, that was quick!

Amazon has announced that Fallout has been renewed for a second season, just one week after the video game adaptation premiered on Prime Video.

Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon’s MGM Studios, praised the show’s recent success in a release announcing the renewal. “The bar was high for lovers of this iconic video game and so far we seem to have exceeded their expectations, while bringing in millions of new fans to the franchise. The cast led by Ella Purnell, Aaron Moten, Walton Goggins, and Kyle MacLachlan have knocked it out of the park!” she said.

Executive producers and series creators Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner also expressed their excitement for Season 2 in their own statement. “Holy shit. Thank you to Jonah, Kilter, Bethesda and Amazon for having the courage to make a show that gravely tackles all of society’s most serious problems these days — cannibalism, incest, jello cake. More to come!” they said.

Producers Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy also said they “can’t wait to blow up the world all over again” in Season 2.

This is great news for fans, considering the Season 1 finale certainly tied up some loose ends while teasing what else is in store.

The popular series is adapted from the popular video game franchise, which first debuted in 1997 and spawned four games and seven spin-offs, meaning writers will have a lot to work with for Season 2.

And looks like Season 2 is already in the works. Variety reported that production for Season 2 is expected to relocate to California after Season 1 was filmed in New York and Utah. The show received $25 million in California tax credits to do so.

According to Amazon’s press release, Fallout now ranks among Prime Video’s top three most-watched titles ever and is also considered the most-watched season since Rings of Power, though the company did not offer any viewership data.

The title premiered on April 10, 2024.

Fallout Season 1 is now streaming on Prime Video.
