We really can’t fault Joy Behar for this one. The comedian confessed to The View this morning that she made the most relatable mix-up of all time when she confused Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon, two late night hosts who happen to have the same first name and essentially the same job.

However, we have to admit we can’t quite relate the circumstances of her blunder (after all, we don’t, unfortunately, have the personal email addresses of any famous comedians).

Behar told the Hot Topics panel that she thought the March 10 Oscars were “pretty good,” especially the bit from Kimmel when the host joked about Trump being past his “jail time.”

The jab was “so spot-on,” Behar said, that she was inspired to reach out to Kimmel with a compliment.

“I know Jimmy, so I thought I’d write him an email to congratulate him on taking on the fascist with a joke, because comedians rule!” she exclaimed.

She then added, “But I sent it to Jimmy Fallon,” as the panel erupted into laughter.

When they asked her the obvious next question — “Did he reply?” — Behar confirmed that she did not, in fact, receive any reply from the NBC star, who has never hosted the Oscars.

(Editor’s Note: The View is currently on hiatus; contrary to what you may have heard, The View was not canceled today. This article was originally published on March 12, 2024 when this episode first aired. The View will return with new episodes next week.)

“You’re dead to him now,” Sara Haines joked, as Behar continued, “I mean, I’m so technologically stupid. It’s a wonder I didn’t send it to Jimmy Carter!”

But being the good friends and co-hosts they are, Behar’s View colleagues jumped to defend her. While Haines insisted Behar’s mistake was not the fault of technology, Whoopi Goldberg told Behar, “Let me tell you, that happens to people all the time. I don’t think there’s anybody sitting at this table who has never sent the wrong email to the wrong person.”

Without missing a beat, Behar asked, “Have you?” but Goldberg remained silent and just smiled. Well, it looks like there’s at least one exception at the table.

The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
