Hoda Kotb Spells Out “P-O-R-N” On ‘Today’s Take Your Child To Work Day, Forgetting That “Some Of These Kids Can Spell”

Take Your Kids To Work day started off with a bang at Today With Hoda & Jenna as Hoda Kotb’s six-year-old daughter and several of the crew’s children visited set Thursday (April 25) morning. After the kids took turns introducing themselves, Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager practically skipped through most of the morning segment as they realized it included more “adult topics” than they expected.

During one particularly funny moment, Kotb and Bush Hager were talking about a viral post on X that showed a couple cuddling on an airplane.

“I hope it’s appropriate, it’s something that we haven’t seen, so shall we look at it?” Bush Hager said. The photo then appeared, showing a rather confusing tangle of feet and legs.

“Oh no,” Kotb said as she and Bush Hager appeared to become increasingly aware of their young audience. The photo soon disappeared, so Kotb continued the segment as usual, saying, “You cant even tell how many people that is. They called it cuddling and a lot of people are reacting to that entanglement. Someone who was sitting next to these people tweeted this photo and he said, ‘I can’t believe my view on the plane. It was like this for the whole four hour flight.'”

Bush Hager chimed in to say, “I would have just put on my earphones, taken out my book. Are you supposed to tell them to not cuddle? It is slightly shocking.”

Kotb laughed as she agreed, “It is a little off-putting. And sometimes, you know when there’s something you’re not supposed to be looking at, but you can’t help but look at it? There was a person who was sitting next to me [on an airplane] watching something that looked sort of P-O-R-N-ish.” She spelled out “porn” to seemingly censor it from the kids in the studio.

It seemed like a good idea until Bush Hager glanced at the children and pointed out, “Some of these children can spell,” prompting laughter from Kotb.

“Well anyway, it was like you don’t want to look but you’re like, ‘Ugh that’s horrible, oh my god!’ And you’re like forced to look even though you don’t want to,” Kotb said.

They then decided to move on to the next topic, which was about Courtney Cox’s breakup with Johnny McDaid. They didn’t even attempt to comment on the topic, as Bush Hager bluntly explained how uncomfortable they felt.

“We’re having a hard time balancing bring your kid to work day, I have allergies, and talking about adult topics. Let’s just be honest here, it’s a lot,” she said.

Kotb agreed that it was “a little awkward,” to which Bush Hager added they felt “pressure cooked.”

Bush Hager pointed out that she couldn’t even ask Kotb about her own experiences with breakups because her “daughter’s right there.” As the Today hosts didn’t know how to continue the conversation, Kotb instead threw it to commercial, ending the segment altogether.

Awkward!
