Madney officially tied the knot on 9-1-1, and we’ve got Jennifer Love Hewitt’s wedding gift to prove it.

In celebration of the highly-anticipated Season 7 episode, which showed Maddie (Hewitt) and Chimney (Kenneth Choi) getting married in an intimate hospital ceremony, Hewitt recorded an original cover of “Islands in the Stream” as a nod to Madney’s memorable karaoke scene from Season 2. Showrunner Tim Minear loved the song so much that he let Maddie walk down the aisle to it, and it’s now available to stream for all your sobbing/wedding playlist needs.

“Kenny loves to listen to music to help him prep for his emotional pain. When I heard what the episode was I knew that he was going to be listening to music and I was like, ‘This is Maddie and Chimney, this song,’ and there hasn’t been a ballad version of that song done. So I was like, ‘I’m going to do this as a wedding gift for Tim and Kenny,'” Hewitt told Decider in a Zoom interview.

After recording the cover with help from her pal Nick Marzock, she sent it to the guys and made their days. “Kenny listened to it every single scene of us filming, because it was my voice and it brought him back to Maddie. He listened to it during our wedding ceremony and all of that stuff. Then Tim really liked it and put it in the episode, which was secretly my hope, that it would somehow end up there.”

When the 9-1-1 star spoke to Decider on Wednesday she was getting read to record “a tiny little music video thing” with Marzock which the team also plans to release on Thursday in honor of the big wedding episode. While you wait for the video to drop on YouTube, you can check out a teaser on Instagram and sob over Kenneth Choi commenting, “It’s heartbreakingly good❤️❤️❤️.”

“This is behind the scenes of Nick and I shooting a little music video for you guys of ‘Islands in the Stream,'” Hewitt says in a second video, showing the “profesh” music video shooting setup and a very cute dog.

While the Season 7, Episode 6 previews teased an elaborate ceremony at a stunning oceanside venue, after a whole lot of drama, Maddie and Chimney opted for an intimate, impromptu hospital wedding with close family and friends. Though some fans may wish Madney got to go all out for their nuptials, the unconventional setting felt right to Hewitt.

“For me, Maddie and Chimney — their journey is fated to always be this reminder for them that no matter what, they will always come back together and they will always be OK. And that’s what the episode is really,” she told Decider. “They think it’s gonna be one thing and they get completely torn apart in these totally different scenarios — but at the end, they come back together and they’re with the people that they love the most. It is the most intimate, lovely little moment. And why wouldn’t they get married at the hospital? Why would that be what would happen? It’s perfect. I mean, it just makes total sense for them. It really does.”
