Tom Selleck is not letting go.

In a recent interview with CBS Sunday Morning, the Blue Bloods star openly disagreed with CBS’ decision to cancel the hit broadcast show after 14 seasons.

When asked if fans should expect a Season 15 of his show, Selleck replied, “Well, that’s a good question. I will continue to think that CBS will come to their senses. We’re the third-highest show in all of broadcast.”

Selleck, who has starred in the series as patriarch Frank Reagan since the show premiered in 2010, continued defending the series, saying, “We’re winning the night. All the cast wants to come back. I can tell you this: We aren’t sliding off a cliff; we’re doing good shows and still holding our place. So I dunno. You tell me.”

The police procedural has become a staple on the network, averaging 10 million or more viewers a night. The series will end with a two-part season airing between spring and fall of 2024. In light of the news, the show received an extended season so it can end on a proper note.

Selleck has said before that he is “not counting the days so [he] can do something else.”

“I love the work,” he shared in an interview with TV Insider earlier this year. “Sometimes the hours are a little harder because I’m older, but so what? I want work as long as they’ll have me.”

He also said that the network “will find an awful lot of people aren’t ready to say goodbye to it.”

The show’s more popular than ever, and I think [numbers] will increase with the interest this year,” he said. “We’re certainly not out of ideas.”

The network has instead set its sights on a new series: Sheriff Country, a spinoff from Fire Country starring Morena Baccarin.

Blue Bloods Season 14 Part 1 airs on CBS Friday, May 17.

Part 2 will air later this fall. New episodes will be available to stream live on Paramount+ with Showtime. Paramount+ Essential subscribers will have access to next-day streaming.
