Abe Sylvia’s star-studded Apple TV+ comedy Palm Royale wrapped its first season on May 8 with an eventful finale ripe with cliffhangers that will leave fans craving more. But is a Season 2 in store? Or is Palm Royale‘s party officially over?

Loosely based on Juliet McDaniel’s novel Mr. and Mrs. American Pie, the series follows pageant queen Maxine Simmons (Kristen Wiig) as she ruthlessly scales the social ladder in Palm Beach 1969. For the majority of the season, Maxine is busy planning an elaborate annual event called the Beach Ball, and Episode 10, “Maxine Throws a Party,” shows its highly-anticipated execution.

Apple TV’s finale synopsis, which simply reads, “Tensions boil over at the Beach Ball,” gives but a glimpse at all the chaos, drama, comedy, and tragedy that transpires in Season 1’s final hour. From an unexpected pregnancy reveal to an assassination attempt gone wrong, Palm Royale‘s finale packs some serious punches that will have fans begging for a Season 2.

So will there will be a Palm Royale Season 2? Has Apple TV+ canceled or renewed Palm Royale already? Read on to see everything we know about the future of the series.

When chatting with Palm Royale star Ricky Martin about his role as Robert Diaz, Decider made sure to ask his thoughts on a potential Season 2 as well, so his insights — along with additional quotes from Carol Burnett and Leslie Bibb — are also below. (If you have yet to watch the Season 1 finale, just note that spoilers lie ahead.)

Will There Be a Palm Royale Season 2 on Apple TV+? Star Ricky Martin Weighs In

Good news Palm Royale stans, on June 6 Apple TV+ officially renewed the series for a second season.

“We are so thrilled to hear about Season 2,” executive producer Laura Dern said per Deadline. “Jayme and I [with Jaywalker Pictures] have been dreaming up this project for so long in hopes that audiences would have delicious fun with the radical ride that is the world of Palm Royale. We all can’t wait to get started.”

Based on the level of talent involved, the major cliffhangers, and the comments from Palm Royale stars, a Season 2 renewal looked like a sure thing when the show’s Season 1 finale premiered. Plus, star Ricky Martin was hungry for more episodes to explore the fate of his character Robert.

“Regardless of what happens to my character, I think the audience needs to have another season because it’s so rich,” Palm Royale‘s Ricky Martin told Decider via Zoom. “The cliffhanger is insane and the idea that Kristen Wigg’s character can confront Leslie Bibb’s character eventually and Kaia Gerber’s character in all this, and the fact that Carol Burnett’s character is alive and kicking with the power of a matriarch is just amazing.”

If you’ve seen the Season 1 finale, you know that Martin’s character Robert was shot in the final moments of the episode. Though his fate looks grim when the end credits roll, Martin sounds hopeful about Robert’s future recovery. “I don’t know if Robert is gonna get married in the next season. We don’t know. But I’m just hoping for many more seasons to come.”

At the 2024 Television Critics Association’s Winter Press Tour in February, Palm Royale star Carol Burnett shared Martin’s desire for more seasons, saying, “Everybody has these wonderful moments, and it was just a joy to go to work… And at my age, it’s a joy to be anywhere. But this was really something for me, and I loved it, and I hope there’s a second season because I don’t want to be out of work.”

What Could A Palm Royale Season 2 Look Like?

When Palm Royale returns for Season 2 after that large-scale finale, fans are likely in for another wild batch of episodes. Obviously, we’ll witness the aftermath of the Beach Ball and see if Robert survives being shot. Like Martin said, if he pulls through, there’s a chance he’ll accept Norma’s marriage proposal…but he also has a damning hunch about his wealthy boss (or the woman pretending to be her) so we’re eager to see if and how he uses that information.

Douglas’ business deal will likely unfold in Season 2, but he and Mitzi will also have to confront Maxine about their affair and unplanned pregnancy. There’s also a Dinah/Evelyn/Eddie love triangle at play in the finale. And will Linda take the fall for Mary’s presidential assassination attempt? Palm Royale has plenty of stories left to tell, including Part 2 of what’s sure to be an epic Maxine and Norma showdown.
