‘Jeopardy!’ Lands First Streaming Spinoff ‘Pop Culture Jeopardy!’

Entertainment fanatics unite! Jeopardy! has landed a Prime Video spinoff that’s all about pop culture.

Pop Culture Jeopardy!, which comes from Sony Pictures Television and is backed by Jeopardy! executive producer Michael Davies, will feature teams as they answer trivia questions about music, movies, culture, stage, sports, celebrities and more, according to The Verge.

Pop Culture Jeopardy! is its own cultural moment, marking the first time the iconic franchise will premiere exclusively on a streaming service,” Lauren Anderson, head of AVOD originals unscripted and targeted programming at Amazon MGM Studios, said in a statement, per Variety.

She continued, “With a team-based approach and pop-culture focus, our global Prime Video customers will exclusively experience this innovative spin on Jeopardy! while testing their knowledge on topics that both define and transcend generations.”

Suzanne Prete, president of game shows at Sony Pictures Television, promised the upcoming spinoff will be “must-watch” television for new and veteran fans alike.

Pop Culture Jeopardy! is going to be a nail-biter for game show enthusiasts who can expect to see teams competing at the highest level of Jeopardy! combined with a fresh twist of pop culture Olympics for the mind,” she said in a statement, per Variety.

While Ken Jennings currently hosts Jeopardy! and Celebrity Jeopardy!, a host for Pop Culture Jeopardy! has not yet been announced.

The new game show follows Jeopardy! spinoffs like Sports Jeopardy!, which aired from 2014 to 2016, Rock & Roll Jeopardy!, which aired from 1998 to 2001, and Jep!, which aired from 1998 to 2004.
