There’s no place like home for the holidays, and Netflix is making that statement even more true for its customers with its recent festive festive football announcement.
The streaming giant revealed on Wednesday (May 15) that, for the first time ever, two of this year’s Christmas Day NFL games will stream live on Netflix.
The Netflix Cup, a golf tournament in which athletes from Formula 1: Drive to Survive and Full Swing competed against each other, marked Netflix’s first live sporting event in November 2023.
Per Netflix’s Tudum, Netflix Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria shared, “Last year, we decided to take a big bet on live — tapping into massive fandoms across comedy, reality TV, sports, and more.”
“There are no live annual events, sports or otherwise, that compare with the audiences NFL football attracts,” she added. “We’re so excited that the NFL’s Christmas Day games will be only on Netflix.”
NFL Executive Vice President of Media Distribution Hans Schroeder said that they “couldn’t be more excited to be the first professional sports league to partner with Netflix to bring live games to fans around the world.”
“The NFL on Christmas has become a tradition and to partner with Netflix, a service whose biggest day of the year is typically this holiday, is the perfect combination to grow this event globally for NFL fans,” he continued.
The streaming wars have their sights on sports content, as Disney/ESPN, Fox, and Warner Bros. Discovery announced a joint sports streaming service that will reportedly launch this fall, which Variety reports has been named Venu Sports.

Which Christmas Day NFL games will be streaming live on Netflix?
The two merry match-ups that will be available to stream on Netflix are the Kansas City Chiefs vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Baltimore Ravens vs. the Houston Texans.
Will these Christmas Day games only be streaming on Netflix?
The two games will also be broadcast on live TV in the competing team’s cities, and will also be available to stream on NFL+.
Does this NFL on Netflix deal only apply for 2024?
Nope! The streamer announced that this is a three-year deal, meaning that Netflix will stream at least one NFL Christmas Day game in 2025 and 2026, as well.
