Tony McFarr, a stunt double who frequently stunted for Chris Pratt, died on Monday (May 13) at his home outside Orlando, per TMZ. He was 47.

His mother Donna informed the outlet of his death, deeming her son’s passing “unexpected and shocking,” as he was “active and healthy.” His cause of death is yet to be determined, but is reportedly pending toxicology results, per Deadline.

Per IMDb, McFarr doubled for Geoff Stults in an episode of Bones in 2011, marking the start of his stunt career. In terms of his work with Pratt, McFarr worked on Jurassic World, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, and Passengers.

Pratt took to his Instagram story on Thursday (May 16) to honor his late stunt double, sharing that he’s “devastated to hear about the loss of [his] friend and former stunt double Tony McFarr.”

“We did several movies together. We golfed, drank whiskey, smoked cigars, and spent endless hours on set. I’ll never forget his toughness,” he continued. “I remember he took a nasty shot to the head (in the title sequence of Guardians of the Galaxy 2) and got several staples in his head — he came right back to work ready to go again. He was an absolute stud. He was always a gentleman and professional. He’ll be missed. My prayers go out to his friends and family, especially his daughter.”

His tribute was followed by photos of them together on different film sets, such as Passengers.
