Grab the tissues, Trying fans. Season 4 of Apple TV+‘s heartwarming, tear-jerking dramedy is finally here. And though it’s still the same show you know and love, things look a lot different since the Season 3 finale aired in 2022.

When fans of Andy Wolton’s beloved British series last left Nikki (Esther Smith) and Jason (Rafe Spall), they had adopted two children — Princess and Tyler — and had a fulfilling life of parenting ahead of them.

Rather than pick up right where we left off, a Trying time jump is letting viewers check in with the couple at the heart of show years later to see their established family in action.

Per Apple TV+, “In this exciting new season, we fast-forward six years to discover that Nikki and Jason are experienced adopters who have built a lovely little nuclear family, enriched by an extraordinary support network. However, as their teenage daughter, Princess (Scarlett Rayner), starts to yearn for a connection with her birth mother, Nikki and Jason find themselves confronted with the ultimate test of their parenting skills.”
