Michelle Buteau was in for a real treat when Whoopi Goldberg agreed to voice her boobs in the new comedy film, Babes.
The actress appeared alongside The Valley star Jesse Lally on Tuesday night’s (May 21) episode of Watch What Happens Live, where a virtual fan asked her about the career-defining moment.
“I’m in the movie Babes with Ilana Glazer, out in theaters now, check it out,” Buteau explained. “I play a woman who’s just had her second kid, trying to breastfeed and I get high on mushrooms.”
She continued, “And then I see my boobs lactating but they’re not and they’re talking to me and the voice is Whoopi Goldberg.”
According to Buteau, Goldberg “didn’t need a lot of direction” when it came to voicing her breasts. Let’s not forget that The View moderator is an EGOT, after all!
“It was a dream come true,” Buteau added. “I never thought I would, like, dream for Whoopi Goldberg to voice my tits but here we go.”
The actress — along with Glazer and Babes director Pamela Adlon — recently appeared on an episode of The View, where she echoed the same sentiments to Goldberg herself.
“[We] wanted to bring Michelle’s character Dawn’s breasts to life,'” Glazer said, per Entertainment Weekly. “And we thought, ‘Who would do that better than Whoopi Goldberg?'”
Buteau told Goldberg that it was a “dream come true” to have her voice her boobs, noting that it was “kinda unbelievable” that she was able to do her voiceover work via Zoom.
Babes, which hit theaters May 17, follows childhood best friends who are now in different phases of adulthood. When carefree Eden (Glazer) gets pregnant after a one-night stand, she turns to her BFF Dawn (Buteau), a married mom of two, to help her out.
Watch What Happens Live airs Sunday through Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET on Bravo. New episodes are available to stream the next day on Peacock.
