When Michael Douglas stopped by The View in April, he learned more about Sunny Hostin than he bargained for — and now we’re learning it, too.

During a discussion on this morning’s show about Kate Hudson‘s reveal that she once took a year-long break from dating men, The View panel debated whether they agreed with her approach, prompting Hostin to bring up Douglas’ erotic thriller Fatal Attraction.

“I don’t like a break,” Hostin confessed. “I do think that there are some young people that are getting too committed too early without, like, living their lives, and I think you should be dating a lot.

“But then there are other people that just get, you know, into unhealthy patterns, and sex complicates things a lot,” she continued. “If you’re one of those people that knows that you’re a possible bunny boiler or you’ve got a crazy flag or something like that, then it’s good to take a little bit of a break.”

Hostin was referring to the infamous Fatal Attraction scene in which Beth (Anne Archer) comes home to find her daughter’s pet rabbit in a pot of boiling water. The culprit? Alex (Glenn Close), who has been having an affair with Beth’s husband, Dan (Douglas).

Hostin’s remark prompted Haines to share some intel about Douglas’ time at The View, where he dropped by this spring to promote his new Apple TV+ show Franklin, but still couldn’t escape one of his most famous roles.

“She told Michael Douglas that when he was here, about Fatal Attraction,” Haines recalled. “She said, ‘You know I’m kind of like the type of person to burn a bunny,’ and he looked at her and he was like, ‘OK. So you like the movie.'”

But Hostin took it all in stride, laughing at Haines’ recap and doubling down on her initial comments.

“I don’t know that you need a break,” she reiterated.

The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
