When the end credits roll on Loot‘s eventful Season 2 finale, fans won’t just have Beyoncé’s “Ring the Alarm” on the brain. They’ll also be wondering if Loot Season 3 is a go at Apple TV+.

The comedy’s latest season showed Molly Wells (Maya Rudolph) and her trusty Wells Foundation team working to give away her $120 billion fortune, as promised. Despite a valiant effort to get through to and persuade entitled billionaires to join her in her quest to make the world a better place, Molly ended the season feeling defeated — professionally and personally.

If you’ve seen Episode 10, “We Shouldn’t Exist,” you know that Loot‘s sophomore season ended on some serious cliffhangers. So will Molly, Sofia (Michaela Jaé Rodriguez), Nicholas (Joel Kim Booster), Howard (Ron Funches), Arthur (Nat Faxon), and the rest of the Loot crew — yes, even John (Adam Scott) — be back for more?

Curious if there will be a Loot Season 3 on Apple TV+? And if so, what a third season of the comedy might look like? Read on for everything we know about the future of the series, including comments from Loot star Michaela Jaé Rodriguez and co-creators Alan Yang and Matt Hubbard.

Will There Be A Loot Season 3 On Apple TV+?

As of Loot‘s Season 2 finale premiere day (June 29), Apple TV+ had yet to officially renew the comedy for Season 3. But that doesn’t necessarily mean the party’s over. When Decider chatted with co-creators Alan Yang and Matt Hubbard ahead of Season 2’s premiere, they expressed a great deal of interest in returning for more episodes. In fact, they even shared the Loot team was discussing Season 3 ideas, which is a promising sign for the series.

“We’re already talking about ideas for Season 3. We’d love to do more of the show. We feel like we’ve just scratched the surface of 20 episodes. And we come from shows where we’ve done 100 or 150 episodes. So we feel like there’s definitely more juice in here,” Yang explained.

Loot star Michaela Jaé Rodriguez also echoed the desire for a Season 3, telling Decider, “Oh, for sure. There’s no if, ands, or buts about that. There’s no questions. The answer is only ‘Yes!’ I would love to return for Season 3..the cast is fantastic. We love working with each other. So that’s an honest yes.”

While we await more updates on Loot‘s renewal status, let’s talk about what a Season 3 could look like, shall we?

What Could Loot Season 3 Look Like?

If you’ve seen Loot‘s Season 2 finale, you know there are quite a few loose ends and cliffhangers that would likely be addressed in Season 3 — from Molly and Arthur’s relationship status to Molly’s money, the fate of the Wells foundation, and more. (If you’re looking for an in-depth recap of Loot’s Season 2 finale, Decider’s Ending Explained article has you covered.)

As for concrete Season 3 teases from the people who work on the show, here’s what Loot’s co-creators and star Michaela Jaé Rodriguez had to say.

“One of the things we talked about is how billionaires are living this jet-setting lifestyle, and they’re kind of an international crowd. So, it’s interesting to think, what would this group look like in different settings? That’s obviously part of a really, really, really rich person’s life. So maybe we’ll do something like that,” Yang said.

In Season 2, viewers saw Nicholas get offered a big acting role that would require him to move to Korea for six months, plus, he was hoping to connect with his birth mom. When asked if that’s where he and Molly would be jetting off to in Season 2’s final scene, or if we could see Nicholas searching for his biological mom down the line, Hubbard said, “All those things are on the table. We love all that stuff. And we are sort of like right now trying to figure out what is the funniest way to start this season? What are things that will allow us — like Nicholas’s birth parents — to explore these characters and a little bit more depth? And how do we keep like putting them in conflict with each other? We’re excited about all those possibilities.”

As for Sofia’s possible Season 3 future, Rodriguez told Decider, “I would love to see now her emotions seep into the workspace and see how her colleagues are going to react to it. I picture a moment where she’s just skipping down the hallway — something that we would never see Sofia doing. And them having a candid view on that and asking questions, like ‘What’s wrong with her?'” Sounds like Sofia would be deliriously happy in that scenario, so fingers crossed that Isaac is still in the picture.

Finally, we got a romantic Season 3 tease for all the Molly and Arthur lovers out there. Just know, you’re not alone. Even the showrunners ship the coworkers! “We love writing Molly and Arthur stories because Maya and Nat have such good chemistry. They are long-term friends. They’ve been friends for like 20 years. So we spent a lot of time talking about that relationship. And I think as we move into Season 3, what Arthur now knows — about what Molly feels about him, and what he may secretly feel about her — will certainly come up pretty quickly,” Hubbard said. “I think they’ll have to make some decisions about what they do with each other. And I think no matter what they do, it will be complicated. Why we like writing those stories is because they are from vastly different worlds in some ways, right? Molly has been a billionaire for 25 years, and Arthur has like three pairs of khakis. So like there will be like issues between them. And that’s really fun to write for us, and for such good actors.”

While we await more updates on the future of Loot, rest assured that if the Apple TV+ show does return, it’ll continue embracing the stance that billionaires shouldn’t exist while highlighting crucial issues, like the housing crisis.

“We’ve never gotten any pushback. And for us to put that in the show, we tried to talk to people who know a lot more about it than we do — people who work at foundations, people in government. We really tried to pick their brain and say, ‘What’s something that’s plausible?’ We’re not saying these are solutions or telling you what to do, because we’re not experts. Our primary job is to be writers and comedy showrunners and directors,” Yang said. “That being said, it’s great to put something in the show that has some plausibility and some real life relevance. It’s never going to be the main part of the show. You can go watch a documentary or hopefully read books about that if you want, but if it highlights any aspect of that and brings awareness, that’s great, and a great bonus for the show.”
